Korean Style Hamburger Slider Lettuce Wraps

With the Independence Day holiday right around the corner.  Me and my wife decided on making some burgers but not just any burgers. After some consideration, we are decided we wanted to spice up the burger a bit (literally). So came the idea of  this Korean style hamburger slider with lettuce wrap which is largely inspired by the idea of Korean BBQ and good old classic american style burger minus the bun. With the spiciness of the Korean pepper paste in the burger and the refreshing tart spiciness from the hamburger toppings wrapped in Boston lettuce really brings this slider to a full circle.  Have a Happy 4th of July everyone!

Ingredients:

Marination for the Korean Burger

1 1/2 lb of ground beef

1 tbsp Korean pepper paste

1/3 cup of shallots minced

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/4 cup panko bread crumbs

1 egg

1 tsp sea salt

Toppings for the Korean Hamburger

1/3 cup of shredded white onions

1/3 cup of shredded carrots

1/3 cup of shredded cucumbers

1/2 tsp cane sugar

1/2 tbsp red pepper flakes

2 tsp of fish sauce

Boston lettuce leafs or Butter lettuce

Directions:

1. Add in all the hamburger marination ingredients with the ground beef.

2. Mix the ground beef until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

3. Make small hamburger slider patties.

4. Put hamburger slider patties on parchment paper and stack patties on top.

5. After you finish making all the hamburger sliders, you should put them in a zip lock plastic bag and put it in the freeze.  Take the burger sliders out of the freezer and let it defrost for about 15-20 minutes prior to cooking.

6.  Now for the hamburger topping, you will need to shred 1/3 cup of white onions, carrots and cucumber.

7. In a bowl, mix together cane sugar, red pepper flakes and fish sauce at least until the sugar is dissolved.

8. Add in the shredded white onions, carrots and cucumber into the bowl.

9. Mix thoroughly until everything is nicely blended together and then set aside in refrigerator for later.  Also wash some Boston Lettuce for later as well.

10. Grill the burgers sliders to your desired doneness.

11.  Now that everything is prepped and done, it is now time to assemble the Korean style hamburger sliders together which is really easy!  All you need to do is take a nice medium size Boston lettuce and put a hamburger slider patty on top.  Then add in the Korean hamburger slider topping on top of the burger slider patty and repeat the process for the remaining slider patties.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

This recipe is just awesome, those tiny burgers with awesome taste.
Just a nice addition would be a Banana on top of it (I`m not joking).

These have the look of something I would be more than willing to take some time to prepare. I think I will give it a go for my sisters birthday next weekend.
