Asian Turkey Meatball

This awesome meatball recipe is from Gina’s skinny recipe (kudos to Gina). These Asian inspired meatballs combine sesame oil, soy sauce with fresh cilantro and scallions. The dipping sauce has a delicious tangy lime flavor mixed with sesame and scallions.  It’s a wonderful thing to make to serve as a appetizer, side dish or compliment with a meal. We really enjoyed this especially since it really is a lighter alternative guilt free recipe and hope you like this too.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup whole wheat panko crumbs

1-1/4 lbs  lean ground turkey

1 tbsp ginger, minced

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

3 scallions, chopped

1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce

2 tsp sesame oil

Dipping Sauce

2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce

2 tsp sesame oil or hot sesame oil

1 tbsp fresh lime juice

1 tbsp water

1 chopped fresh scallion

Directions:

Note – Preheat oven to 350°F.

1. Cut up all the scallion, garlic and ginger, then set it aside for later.

2. Mix ground turkey, panko, egg, salt, scallions, ginger, cilantro, 1 tbsp soy sauce, and 2 tsp oil and mix with your hands until combined well.

3. Bake until the meatball is cooked through, with aluminum foil on covering it for the first 20 minutes and broil it for another 5 minutes to give it some nice added color.

4. For the dipping sauce mix together lime juice, water, soy sauce, and remaining 2 teaspoons of oil in a bowl. Add scallions.

5. Transfer meatballs to a serving dish. Stir sauce, then drizzle meatballs with 1 tablespoon sauce.

We ended up using all the dipping sauce because it was that good! Enjoy.
